Why...Why...Why...

Seven congressmen, led by Senator Benjamin L. Cardin (D-MD), spent their 4th of July weekend  hand delivering seeds to the Svalbard Global Seed Vault in Norway. The self proclaimed "Doomsday Vault" contains seeds from more than 525,000 crop varieties. It was constructed as a back-up storage facility to protect the existing world food supplies from destruction in the event of a devastating global catastrophe. Others believe it is part of a global conspiracy. The facility is constructed deep within a mountain to withstand changing variations in sea levels and even events such as a nuclear explosion. (thus the term "Doomsday Vault) The congressman delivered a wide variety of seeds including melons, peanuts, and beans. The seeds were donated by the United States Department Of Agriculture's National Plant Germplasm System in Colorado. Senator Cardin compared the seed vault in Svalbard to a giant safety deposit box.

Why are our congressman spending their fourth of July weekends in the frozen arctic tundra putting seeds in a Doomsday Vault? Does this further the assumption of a new world order/global conspiracy? This vault rarely gets any attention by the mainstream media, but the leaders of many countries seem to frequent the location. Why has the doomsday vault been such a top priority recently?

Other congressman included Assistant Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin (D-IL), Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ), Senator Tom Udall (D-NM), Representative Louise McIntosh Slaughter (D-NY), Representative Robert B. Aderholt (R-AL), and Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX).
